Ing-Ind/09 Energy Systems and Power Generation

The sector studies energy conversion systems in their various forms: from thermoelectric power plants fuelled by fossil fuels, to hydroelectric and nuclear power plants, to cogeneration in the industrial, tertiary and residential sectors, to technologies aimed at transforming renewable energies (solar, wind, biomass, municipal solid waste and industrial waste), to the use of geothermal energy, to thermal and refrigerating power plants, to the processes of transport and energy storage, to the various forms of direct energy conversion.  The energy systems and the machines that make up them are studied with reference to thermodynamic, fluid dynamic, technological, environmental, safety, diagnostic and control problems.  The sector also studies the environmental impact of energy systems and technologies aimed at containing it.
